Dirt, bird droppings, pollen and algae build up on solar panels and block the light reaching the cells, so a dirty system generates less. We clean domestic rooftop arrays and commercial installations across Croydon with deionised pure water and soft-bristle reach-and-wash poles, using MEWP platforms for higher roofs. Nothing abrasive touches the glass and no residue is left behind.
We clean rooftop panels on homes, offices, schools, warehouses and retail units, ground-mounted arrays and business-park installations, and solar carports and canopies.
Recent Croydon jobs include primary and secondary schools, where any damaged panels we find are reported to the site team rather than cleaned.
On roofs we work with harnesses and fall arrest, and use crawl boards where needed, so nobody stands on the panels.

Industrial roof arrays of 150 to 500 panels, such as distribution centres and factories, typically cost £950 to £2,200. Solar farms and other large ground-mounted sites are quoted individually after a site survey, and we clean them with tractor-mounted brushing systems and pure-water tankers.
We use deionised pure water and soft brushes only: no detergents and no high pressure, so there’s nothing to run off into gutters or drains.
Panels near East Croydon station, the Purley Way and other busy roads pick up traffic film and pollution faster than those on quieter streets, and nearby trees add pollen, leaves and bird droppings.
We set the cleaning interval for each site by how quickly its panels get dirty, so a town-centre office roof may need more visits than a house in Sanderstead.
Small domestic and commercial systems start from £89. A school, office or retail roof is typically £180 to £400, and a large warehouse or academy roof £400 to £950. Every job starts with a free survey and a fixed price before we begin; see our solar panel cleaning price guide for the full breakdown.
We also clean windows, gutters and render across Croydon, so one visit can cover more than your panels. Request a free survey or see all our Croydon cleaning services.

Answers to the questions we’re asked most about cleaning solar panels.
We recommend one clean a year for most installations. Panels near busy roads, building sites, industrial areas or trees get dirty faster and may need cleaning more often. Rain alone won't clear bird droppings or algae, so check your panels if output drops.
It depends on the number of panels and how easy they are to reach. Small systems start from £89, and we give you a fixed price after a free survey.
No. We use soft-bristle brushes and deionised pure water, so nothing abrasive touches the glass and no residue is left to attract dirt. If we find a cracked or damaged panel, we report it to you rather than clean it.
No. We clean with pure water and insulated poles while the panels stay live, so there's no need to isolate the system and you don't lose generation during the clean.
We don't recommend it. Most panels are on roofs, so the main risk is working at height, and tap water or household cleaners can leave residue and streaks that attract more dirt.

Every job is covered by the Astound 10-point Guarantee — a personal consultation, DBS-checked staff, competitive pricing and GPS-tracked vans. If you’re not happy with the result, we’ll put it right.
Most homes and school roofs are cleaned from the ground with water-fed poles. For taller buildings we use MEWP platforms, or rope access where a platform can't reach.
We check panel count, access and condition first, then give you a written fixed price before any work starts.
After each commercial clean you get a photo report flagging any damaged cells, hot spots or loose connectors, with before-and-after generation readings where your site metering allows.
