Can you pressure wash a listed building? You should not. It can also breach the terms of listed building consent. Low-pressure steam or vortex cleaning achieves a better result without the damage.

What are you not allowed to do to a listed building? You cannot alter, extend or demolish any part of a listed building — including its surface finish — without listed building consent. In practice that means no abrasive blasting, no chemical stripping and no coatings applied without approval. Cleaning that removes historic fabric counts as alteration.
